The shear element comprises a strand of several sheet metal discs (7) whose thickness is slightly less than their diameter and which are threaded on an at least partly flexible traction element such as a sheet metal strip (6). The strand fills out at least in part the ring channel kept free between socket end and plug end of pipe connection. The traction element can have eyelets or loops at one end.
