ONE DIMENSIONAL OPTICAL MODULATOR AND PROJECTOR USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: One dimensional optical modulator and a projector using the same are provided to diffract light without depending upon a mechanical drive. CONSTITUTION: A nonlinear material(10) is divided into a plurality of polarized areas which are positioned with an adjacent polarized area by 180 degrees. A voltage is applied to an electrode(20). A dielectric substance(30) is located between the electrode(20) and the nonlinear material(10) an electric field is applied to a direction parallel with a polarity of the nonlinear material(10). A reflecting surface is located to face to an incident surface of a light of the nonlinear material(10) so that the incident surface of a light of the nonlinear material(10) is identical with an output surface of a light of the nonlinear material(10).
