METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CELL DEATH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel factor for controlling cell death and the gene relating thereto by finding said factor which is capable to act as negative factor for regulating apoptosis of the cell. SOLUTION: The method for controlling cell death which is characterized by having a step for giving, positive or negative factor for regulating cell death inhibiting factor dependence cell death pathway consisting of the following amino acid sequence, to the cell which does not express the factor for controlling cell death consisting of the following amino acid sequence under non- inducing condition of the cell death: (a) an amino acid sequence shown by sequence No.1 or 3 or (b) the amino acid sequence shown by sequence No.1 or 3, wherein one or plural number of amino acids are deleted, added or substituted. Further, by using the present invention, new agent for regulating cell death can possibly be searched. Additionally the present invention can be applied for developing diagnostic agents which can be used for various diseases by using change in amount of expression of gene for the above- mentioned cell death controlling factor as the indicator.
