PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the visibility of a map when characters of place names, names, etc., are displayed on a screen of the displayed map. SOLUTION: The map display device is equipped with a character display means 13 which displays characters by using decoration processing for outlined character display, translucent display, bordered display, shaded display, and defocused display, so if the displayed characters are too conspicuous on the screen of the map, decoration processing which makes them inconspicuous is used so that the characters are properly displayed. When the displayed characters are not conspicuous in the picture of the map, decoration processing which makes them conspicuous is used to properly display the characters. |
