PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure accurately the lateral force of a wheel by removing the influence of dispersion of a frictional force working between a roller 1F and a guide member 4, in a measuring method of the lateral force of the wheel based on an axial direction moving force of the roller detected by a load cell 5 by rotating the wheel WF on the roller 1F supported movably in the axial direction. SOLUTION: When the rotational speed of the wheel 1F reaches a prescribed constant speed, the roller 1F is pushed forcibly by a cylinder 9 to one side and the other side in the axial direction, and the lateral force of the wheel is determined from the mean value between the axial direction moving force of the roller detected when pushing to one side in the axial direction is stopped and the axial direction moving force of the roller detected when pushing to the other side in the axial direction is stopped.
