PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing an existing pile, in which the existing pile is not crushed in a casing intruded into ground, in which the existing pile can be easily pulled out, which enables the safe and efficient removal of the existing pile, and which allows a posthole after the removal of the existing pile to be closely backfilled with sediment, so as to be capable of offering stable ground. SOLUTION: This method for removing the existing pile comprises: a process in which the double-structure casing, composed of outside and inside pipes which are relatively movable in an axial direction, is intruded into the ground around the existing pile, in which the inside pipe and the pile are pulled out together in such a manner that the outside pipe is left behind, and in which the outside pipe is pulled out; and a process for backfilling a space part of the posthole.
