PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an epoxy compound, by which the epoxy compound can efficiently be produced from the corresponding olefin in a simple operation under mild conditions. SOLUTION: This method for producing the epoxy compound is characterized by oxidizing the corresponding olefin with molecular oxygen in the presence of an oxidation catalyst comprising titanium dioxide and an imide compound represented by formula (1) (R<1> and R<2> are each identically or differently H, a halogen atom, an alkyl or the like; R<1> and R<2> may be bound to each other to form a double bond, an aromatic ring, a non-aromatic ring, or the like; X is O or OH) and a primary or secondary alcohol. The titanium dioxide preferably contains at least anatase type titanium dioxide.
