PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alignment layer having excellent durability and to provide a liquid crystal device provided with the alignment layer. SOLUTION: The alignment layer 40 (60) is formed by laminating a plurality of organic films 41 each having an alignment controlling layer 42 formed by rubbing treatment or photo-alignment treatment on the surface thereof so that the alignment controlling layers 42 are positioned on the liquid crystal molecule side. The liquid crystal device is provided with the alignment layer 40 (60) on the outermost surface on the liquid crystal layer side of at lest one substrate of a pair of substrates having the liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween and disposed opposite to each other. |
