PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically inspect whether or not a metal foil breaks when a metal rod and the metal foil are jointed by welding or the like. SOLUTION: In a work transfer system 1 provided with a welding station 4 for spot welding an electrode rod 31 and an electrode foil 41 and a detection station 5 for detecting a break of a work 10 by a break inspection apparatus, the electrode rod 31 and the electrode foil 41 jointed by welding are transferred to the detection station 5 in a state while holding the positional relation at the welding time. The break inspection apparatus is provided with a light source 51 and an optical sensor 52. A welded part of the transferred work 10 is irradiated with light from the light source. If the welded part has a break, the light passing through the breaking part is received by the optical sensor 52 and the welded part is judged to have the break.
