PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for a forklift truck which can enhance reliability relating to detection of a rearward obstacle while eliminating an uncomfortable feeling of an operator relating to an unnecessary detection report of a rearward obstacle part, by preventing the rearward obstacle from being detected at random. SOLUTION: This forklift truck is provided with a synchronizing device 17 for synchronizing extruding action of an extruding device 4 with backward moving of a vehicle body 1, and an obstacle detection means 13 for detecting a rearward obstacle of the vehicle body 1 is provided, so as to detect the rearward obstacle by the sensor 13 only while the synchronizing device 17 is operated.
