PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing controller which enhances printing throughput without enlarging the mechanism width of a printer. SOLUTION: A DC unit 33 starts a carriage (CR) motor 17, which moves a carriage 14, equipped with a recording head 15, in a printing direction, midway through the drive of a paper feeding (PF) motor 26 which feeds recording paper P to a printing position, and makes the recording head 15 start printing operations from the stop of the PF motor 26 onward. The DC unit 33 determines a time for starting the printing operations, in accordance with a printing starting moving distance and acceleration region driving current value data stored in a programmable read-only memory (PROM) 34, so that a printing operation starting position can be executed in an acceleration region of the CR motor 17. The DC unit 33 sets a driving current value for supplying electricity to the CR motor 17 at any given time in the acceleration region, in accordance with the acceleration region driving current value data, and supplies the electricity to the CR motor 17.
