PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly rotate an adjusting nut without the generation of a shakiness between the collar of the adjusting nut and a toggle support which does not move even by the inertia of a movable platen during opening/closing a mold, which sufficiently secures the opening/closing precision of the mold, and adjusts the position of the toggle support by easily rotating the adjusting nut. SOLUTION: The mold clamping device for a molding machine comprises a guide member with a thread formed on the end, a support member of a mold clamping mechanism with a seat face 19a formed on the back and an insertion hole for a guide member, an adjusting nut 15 to be screwed into a thread of the guide member, a gear installed on the end face, on the back, of the adjusting nut 15, a support member which is mounted so that it is positioned between the gear and the support member of the mold clamping mechanism and supports the adjusting nut 15 and a breaking device capable of pressing the adjusting nut 15 onto the seat face 19a.
