PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition with a low harmful chlorine content for a gasket which is inexpensive and flame-retardant and reduces dioxine, smoke and HCl generation. SOLUTION: This resin composition with a low harmful chlorine content for a gasket is composed of a blend comprizing a polyvinyl chloride-based resin, a plasticizer and a stabilizer, the following less harmful flame retarders from (A) to (E) and fumed silica; (A) 5-200 pts.wt. of a hydrated metal compound, (B) 5-30 pts.wt. of hydrotalcite, (C) 5-150 pts.wt. of calcium carbonate having a particle diameter of 0.1μm or below, (D) 0.5-20 pts.wt. of molybdenum oxide, (E) 0.5-20 pts.wt. of zinc stannate and (F) 0.5-20 pts.wt. of zinc oxide. The quantity of the fumed silica to be blended is 0.5-50 pts.wt. The fumed silica absorbs 0.5-20 pts.wt. of a high mol.wt. silicone oil and/or a silicone-based flame retarder.
