PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of avoiding a problem such as a heat problem, while securing a collapsible stroke. SOLUTION: A steering wheel 101 and an input shaft 104 are connected to each other through a bevel gear mechanism 50. With this structure, even if the steering wheel 101 and a steering mechanism including a rack shaft are arranged relatively close to each other in terms of layout of a vehicle, transmission shafts cross each other with the existence of the bevel gear mechanism 50, and a route (transmission shaft length) from the steering wheel 101 to the steering mechanism, namely, a rack housing 108 can be formed long. A collapsible mechanism 40 including the steering shaft 102 can secure a long stroke length. On the other hand, a torque sensor and a motor as a detecter can be arranged in relatively upper parts inside of an engine room to avoid a thermal damage of an exhaust pipe of an engine. |
