PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device capable of canceling the path difference of light between a reflection mode and a transmission mode to maximize outgoing beam intensity in both the modes and having the smoothness of an active matrix substrate surface. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device in which a liquid crystal layer is held between an element substrate on which wiring and a thin film transistor are formed and a counter electrode arranged to be opposed to the element substrate and a reflection electrode is formed on the element substrate, an insulating layer or a color filter is laminated on a thin film transistor, the reflection electrode is laminated on the insulating layer or the color filter and a liquid crystal molecular orientation mode in a reflection region where the reflection electrode is present and a liquid crystal orientation mode in the transmission region where the reflection electrode is not present are set in each region. |
