PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment device also capable of removing a white smoke. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas treatment device is composed so as to remove the white smoke generated at engine start by elevating the temperature of a dust removing apparatus with a hot air generation unit 21 or an external heater before starting the operation of a diesel engine. In the device provided in a facility having a plurality of diesel engines, the temperature of the apparatuses at the stopped diesel engine side is elevated by the exhaust gas of the operating diesel engines. The temperature elevation may be carried out by the following methods: the exhaust gas is heated by a heating unit; a pulverized coal burner using recovered soot as a fuel is used as the heating unit; the temperature of the apparatus is elevated with a high temperature air heat-exchanged with the exhaust gas by a heat exchanger; the temperature elevation speed of the apparatus is controlled by controlling the flow rate of heated gas based on the temperature detection signal of heated gas at the outlet of the apparatus; and the heated gas passed through the apparatus is returned to the exhaust gas line of the operating diesel engine side. In the dust removing apparatus, a ceramic filter is used.
