PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve high productivity at a low-cost with compact constitution. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a pickup roller 412 to feed documents, a separating and carrying roller 413 to separate and carry the documents one by one, a resist roller 414 to correct timing and skew of the fed document, inverting rollers 433 and 434 to invert the document to be carried to a reading part, a first motor M1 to drive the pickup roller 412, the separating and carrying roller 413, the resist roller 414, and the inverting rollers 433 and 434, a pre-reading roller 421 to carry the document to the reading part 422, a reading roller 423 to press the document at the reading part 422, a post- reading roller 424 to guide the document after reading to a document delivery part, a document delivery roller 441 to deliver the document, and a second motor M2 to drive the pre-reading roller 421, the reading roller 423, the post- reading roller 424, and the document delivery roller 441. A clutch mechanism 600 is provided to connect and disconnect the pickup roller 412 to/from the separating and carrying roller 413 and the resist roller 414.
