Synergistic stabilisers to improve the stability of polyamides (esp. such consisting of 75-100% hexamethylenedipamide and 0-25% caprolactam units, pref. polyhexamethyleneadipamide; all having an excess of NH2 end groups of 20-140, pref. 40-100 g/equiv. over COOH end groups per 106 g polyamide) and to prevent colouration obtained by adding 0.01-0.3% Cu (II) stearate 0.004-0.11 Mn hypophosphite and 0.1-5% KI to the polyamide prior to extrusion or working. The tensile strength is only lightly reduced after one years exposure in Florida. The product can be used esp. where weathering is an important consideration. |
