PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting system B for a mobile object A, typically a vehicle A, which seamlessly detects the position of the mobile object A at a boundary P0 which is shared by two regions I and II, in which different position detecting means are employed. SOLUTION: An optical beacon transmitter C is placed on the boundary P0 separating two regions I and II, in which different position detecting means are employed. When the mobile object A passes the boundary P0 , the system makes an optical beacon receiver in the position detecting system B receive a signal from the optical beacon transmitter C, corrects the position where the mobile object A is detected to an accurate position, and based on the position, calculates the position of the mobile object A in each region I or II. |
