PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve integrated with a solenoid valve wherein no high pressure side refrigerant is introduced into a diaphragm actuation mechanism upon the valve being closed. SOLUTION: Once electric power is supplied to a coil 120 of a solenoid valve 10, a plunger 130 is pulled back to the side of a stopper 132 with magnetic force of the coil 120. Once the tip end of the plunger 130 goes away from a valve hole 152 in a pilot valve body 150, the valve hole 152 is opened, and a refrigerant in a back pressure chamber 160 passes through the valve hole 152, and is introduced into a passage 27 of a conduit 28 to reduce a pressure difference. Hereby, the pilot valve body 150 is separated from the tip end of the conduit 28 to open the solenoid valve 100 and henceforth permit a refrigerant in a bottomed opening section 26 to flow to the side of an outlet refrigerant flow passage 20. Further, the power supply to the coil 120 is interrupted to cause the tip end of the plunger 130 to sit over the valve hole 152 in the valve body 150 owing to the force of the spring 134 whereby the valve hole 152 is closed to force the valve body 150 to sit on an end surface of the conduit 28, whereby the passage 27 is closed. The solenoid valve 20 thus returns to a closed state.
