Flashback arrestor for use with head of oxy-fuel torch

Flashback protection is provided in or proximate the head (22) of a cutting torch by a fitting, which can be in the form of an adapter or a cutting tip for mounting to the head. The fitting includes a body (24,26) and porous structure (30) that is preferably carried by the body and is a distinct component from the body. The porous structure has a multiplicity of convolute passageways (80) extending therethrough for restricting flashback.
