PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving driving method for liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: In the method for driving a liquid crystal display, the power saving is conducted by recognizing a non-display area on the display panel 20 of the liquid crystal display, that is, a liquid crystal display matrix circuit 203 and suspending the supply of electric power to a second lump LED2 corresponding to the non-display area. And/or, the power saving is conducted by suspending the transmission of a signal to a fixed area corresponding to the non-display area on the liquid crystal display matrix circuit 203 after recognizing the non-display area.
