PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which is excellent in the photosensitivity characteristics, stability of the characteristics for repeated use and mechanical durability, which is free from separation failure of a transferred body from a photoreceptor, and which generates no image failure, and to provide a method for forming an image. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic photoreceptor having a surface photosensitive layer into which a polymer compound having the structural unit expressed by general formula (1) is incorporated as a binder resin is used for the method for forming an image. The method includes a process of transferring a developer from the electrophotographic photoreceptor to a body to be transferred and then separating the body to be transferred from the photoreceptor surface by a mechanical separating means. In formula (1), each of R<1> , R<2> , R<3> , R<4> , R<5> , R<6> , R<7> and R<8> represents a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, 1-6C alkyl group which may have substituents, 4-10C cyclic hydrocarbon group which may have substituents or aryl group which may have substituents.
