PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collimated lens fiber with the same dimension as that of a single mode fiber. SOLUTION: When it is assumed that a refractive index distribution constantαis within the range of 1.5-2.5, a refractive index ratio difference is <=0.011, the number of openings in the center of a core coincides with the number of the openings of the single ode fiber, the diameter of the core is between 25μm and a fiber diameter and a focal distance f is ((core diameter/2)/number of openings), the collimated lens fiber is obtained by fusion splicing a graded index fiber (GIF) having a length equal to (4m+1)f or (4m-1)f; (m=0, 1, 2...), and the single mode fiber. |
