PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device capable of eliminating the irregularity of alignment states of liquid crystal as to the outer-side part of a display area. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display is provided with a liquid crystal display element in which a plurality of display pixels including memory-property liquid crystal are formed by scanning electrodes R1 to Rm and signal electrodes C1 to Cn which intersect with each other in a matrix shape in a display area 25. In the outer-side part of the display area 25, dummy pixels are formed by dummy scanning electrodes DR1 to DR4 and dummy signal electrodes DC1 to DC4 and these dummy pixels are uniformized into halftones or focal conic states when a picture is renewed.
