PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner using a light deflector rocking a mirror by using a rolling bearing, and capable of preventing the damage of the bearing over a long term, so that the life of the light deflector is drastically prolonged. SOLUTION: This optical scanner has the light deflector rocking the mirror by using the rolling bearing and a driving means for the deflector. The driving means drives the light deflector so that the mirror is rocked at a specified deflection angle at the time of normal optical scanning and also it is rocked at a larger deflection angle than that at normal optical scanning at the time other than the normal optical scanning.
