PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a decorative veneer in an excellent yield by preventing color drift of decorative veneer and making an appearance of a surface of the decorative veneer have that of a beautiful pattern which does not exist on conventional decorative veneer. SOLUTION: Only a peripheral part of a flitch is colored by making a colorant permeate the flitch 1 from an outer surface of the flitch 1. A laminated lumber 2 is formed by laminating a plurality of the colored flitches 1 obtained thus. Then, the laminated lumber 2 is sliced to obtain the decorative veneer 6 having a pattern design wherein a plurality of unit pattern parts 5 in which a periphery of a non-colored part 3 is surrounded by a colored part 4, are arranged.
