PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slit device which can slit a lengthy web into a prescribed width, and at the same time, prevent a web from being slit in the middle of carrying, and moreover, simplify a constitution. SOLUTION: The slit device is provided with a master roll 51 in which the lengthy web 50 is wound around, a cutter (a cutting machine) 53 which slits the web 50 drawn out from the master roll 51 in the longitudinal direction and forms a plurality of magnetic tapes (a belt-like body) 52, a tensile force adjusting means 54 which adjusts the tensile force of the web 50 passing through a space between the master roll 51 and the cutter 53, and a guide means 55 which presses the web 50 on the outer circumferential face 58 of the master roll 51 over the whole width of the web 50 just before the web 50 is introduced to the cutter 53.
