PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the mutual recycling of a housing between a monochrome image forming device and a color image forming device and to provide an image forming device capable of shortening time taken until outputting a first copy when it is used as a monochrome image forming device. SOLUTION: In this image forming device 10, an intermediate transfer body 34 is arranged in the housing 12. A black image forming unit 42 having a 1st image carrier 44 and three color image forming units 60 having a 2nd image carrier 62 are juxtaposed at the upper part of the intermediate transfer body 34. The 1st image carrier 44 lies between the 2nd image carriers 62. A secondary transfer means 24 is arranged near the center of the lower part of the intermediate transfer body 34. In order to use the device 10 as the monochrome image forming device, the 2nd image carrier 62 is detached in a state where the housing 12 is kept as it is. Space is secured on both sides of the 1st image carrier 44, and the length of the intermediate transfer body 34 from the 1st image carrier 44 to the secondary transfer means 24 is made short. |
