PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ball, for a ball-point pen at a low manufacturing cost, which is highly wear-resistant as a diffusion phenomenon is utilized, even during test-using a ball-point pen and a ball for a ball-point pen. SOLUTION: A steel ball composed of 0.6 to 1.2 wt.% of Cr, 0.6 to 1.2 wt.% of C and the remainder of Fe is mixed with powder composed of W, and the steel ball wrapped with the powder is held and heated in a H2 gas atmosphere at 600 deg.C or higher. Thus the powder is diffused over the surface of the steel ball, then the steel ball covered with the powder diffused over the surface is cooled, and the steel ball covered with the powder diffused over the surface is thermally treated so that the hardness of the steel ball itself is adjusted. |
