PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple steering rotation angle sensing device for power steering which can detect an absolute rotation angle beyond 360 degrees of a steering pinion shaft. SOLUTION: In the steering rotation angle sensing device, a power steering applies a driving force of a motor 20 to the steering pinion shaft 13 via a reduction gear 25 to support steering. This power steering is provided with a steering pinion shaft rotational position sensing means 30 detecting the rotational position of the steering pinion shaft 13 for a fixed member, motor phase detecting means Hu, Hv, Hw detecting a periodic rotational phase status of the motor 20, and a steering rotation angle detecting means detecting the absolute rotation angle beyond 360 degrees of a steering pinion shaft 13 based on both steering pinion shaft relative rotational position data detected by the steering pinion shaft rotational position sensing means 30 and motor phase data detected by the motor phase detecting means Hu, Hv, Hw, where a reduction ratio of the reduction gear 25 is set so that the rotational phase status of the motor 20 by 360 degrees cycle at the steering pinion shaft rotational position varies. |
