PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrolysis which is formed by coating a relatively small quantity of a noble metal or a metal oxide on a base material while improving the dispersibility of the super fine particulate noble metal or metal oxide in the electrode for electrolysis used for an industrial and a household electrolyzing process. SOLUTION: A coating layer 3 consisting of titanium oxide particles 4 and the noble metal or the metal oxide such as platinum 5 and iridium oxide 7 covering the surface of the titanium oxide particles 4 is formed on the surface of a conductive base body 2 constituting the electrode 1 for electrolysis, where the coating layer 3 contains 30-80 atom.% titanium.
