PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device for a vehicle capable of preventing an ignition key from coming off when a shift lever is at a position other than a P free position even if a spring energizing a link does not operate normally. SOLUTION: This shift lever device for the vehicle has the shift lever 20 capable of swinging in the forward, backward, right, and left directions of the vehicle, a link operation part 40 operating together with the shift lever 20, and the link 30 coming into slide-contact with the link operation part 40 and movable between a key lock release position A where the ignition key can be pulled out and a key lock position B where the ignition key cannot be pulled out. The link 30 is energized onto a key lock release position A side by the spring 32.
