PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for performing proper isotropic treatment by discriminating whether an isotropic phase state is obtained or not. SOLUTION: It is discriminated about every liquid crystal devices whether a liquid crystal forms the isotropic phase state by heating a substrate having a plurality of the liquid crystal devices and monitoring the isotropic phase state for every liquid crystal devices. Heating of the liquid crystal device in which the isotropic phase state is detected is stopped when a previously fixed time has elapsed after the detection of the isotropic phase state and the device is cooled by a cooling means.
