PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for lightening generation of shock or decrease of workability in stoppage by controlling conveyance on a pair of rails of a take-up reel on which veneer in a wet state or veneer after drying are wound. SOLUTION: A chain conveyor is fitted to an opposed side of each rail extending a longitudinal direction of a pair of rails. Then, the take-up real is controlled, in a transferable manner, in the longitudinal direction of the rail by engaging the chain conveyor with a gear fitted to the take-up reel. The chain conveyor is installed by being divided into a plurality of pieces extending in the longitudinal direction of a pair of rails and engaged with the take-up reel to make the take-up reel transferable in the longitudinal direction of the rail. Then, by setting a length of the chain conveyor to the minimum diameter of the reel veneer to be wound on the take-up reel, an adjoining clearance of mutual reeled veneers carrying to or stored in a reeled veneer stack area can be made dense.
