PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation of soot when a temperature of a diesel particulate filter 22b is less than a predetermined temperature region in which soot can be burned by NO2 . SOLUTION: According to a first configuration of this invention, post-injection time of post-fuel is set to a predetermined time in former half of an expansion process after the injection of main fuel so that post-combustion based on post- fuel is started immediately after substantial end of main combustion based on main fuel, and the post-fuel injected posteriorly can be burned together with carbon while carbon existent in a combustion chamber of an engine and oxygen in the periphery are well mixed to reduce an exhaust amount of soot made of a condensed body of carbon. Consequently, even if a temperature of the diesel particulate filter 22b is less than the predetermined temperature region equivalent to a temperature at which soot can be burned by NO2 , an amount itself of soot exhausted from the engine can be reduced, and an amount of soot caught on the diesel particulate filter 22b can be reduced. |
