PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tilt angle sensor not so much affected by any external impact or vibration. SOLUTION: The tilt angle sensor is provided with a nearly U-shaped hollow tube 11; a magnetic fluid 15 filled in this hollow tube 11 so as to allow its fluid level to reach over the nearly half vertical level of the hollow tube 11; a first and a second air-core coils 12a, 12b installed so as to enclose the outer circumference of the level for the magnetic fluid 15 at the nearly symmetrical position of the hollow tube 11; a cap 13 containing elastic retainers 13a, 13b positioning and supporting the first and the second air-core coils 12a, 12b, step sections 13c, 13d directly contacted by the hollow tube 11, and a communicating bore 13e connecting opening end faces 11a, 11b of the hollow tube 11; and a tilt angle detecting means connected with the first and the second air-core coils 12a, 12b.
