PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary laser device enabling tilt setting without requiring either a high-accuracy receiver unit or a complex optical system such as dividing different polarized light flux. SOLUTION: In the device, a plurality of reflective planes 95 are present on a target 90 in the scanning laser light flux-crossing direction to uniform scanning direction of the scanning laser light flux 100, and the reflective planes 95a, 95b of which are formed so that when the target 90 is located allowing the scanning laser light flux to traverse from one side to the other side of the plural reflective planes 95a, 95b, the chronological array state of a light- receiving signal pulse is different from that of the case when the target 90 is located allowing the scanning laser light flux to traverse from the other side to one side. And a control section 60 is equipped with a discriminant circuit 60a identifying an operational direction of a tilting mechanism based on the chronological array state of a light-receiving signal pulse.
