PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mat for water absorption from which a filler is not leaked and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: In this mat for water absorption obtained by packing a filler F into the inside of a baggy body B made of fabric and hardening the filler, the mat for water immersion obtained by providing at least the interior of the baggy body with a latex layer 4 and closing the inside of the baggy body is obtained by a process for forming the baggy body from a fabric and immersing the baggy body in a latex solution and a process for taking out the baggy body from the latex solution, introducing air into the inside of the baggy body, swelling the baggy body and discharging the latex solution in a state of shape retention and a process for floating the baggy body in a state of shape retention of discharged latex solution in a latex coagulation liquid while injecting a latex solution into the baggy body and gradually immersing the baggy body into the latex coagulation liquid. Consequently, the method for producing the mat for water absorption has a merit of preventing the elution of the filler since the interior of the baggy body is provided with the latex layer and the inside is made into a closed state.
