PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove nitrate nitrogen from waste water discharged from a nutrient liquid cultivation facility containing highly concentrated nitrate nitrogen by utilizing the action of sulfur oxidizing bacteria. SOLUTION: A channel 1 is filled with a sulfur oxidizing bacteria-immobilized carriers 3 and a denitrification material 2 which contains sulfur and utilizes the action of the sulfur oxidizing bacteria, and is provided therein with flow regulation partitions 4 to bring the waste water effectively into contact with the denitrification material containing sulfur, and the nitrate nitrogen in the waste water is thereby reduced to nitrogen gas, thus the nitrogen in the waste water is removed. |
