An elevator device, wherein a fixed member (21) is fixed to the inside of a hoistway, a movable member (23) engaged with the fixed member (21) is mounted on a car (22), a switch device comprises first and second switches (26, 27), the first switch (26) is closed when the movable member (23) is set at a storage position and opened when set at an intermediate position or an engaged position, the second switch (27) is opened when the movable member (23) is set at a storage position or intermediate position and closed when set at an engaged position, and a control device (30) for controlling a drive device (29) stops the operation of the car when the movable member (23) is detected to be set at the intermediate position in an on−car maintenance operation mode.
