A phosphor thin film enabling high luminance, dispensing with a filter becau se of good color purity, achieving a long luminance life, and especially suitab le for the RGB elements of a full-color EL panel. The phosphor thin film contai ns a host material and luminescence centers. The host material is an oxy sulfid e that at least contains a alkaline earth element, Ga and/or In, and sulfur (S ) and may further contain Al. Or an oxy sulfide that contains the above elemen ts and further oxygen (O). The atomic ratio B/A of the host material is B/A = 2 .1 to 3.5 Where A is an alkaline earth and B is Ga, In, and Al. |
