PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of reducing the time required for setting a light source device and a camera control unit, and realizing the optimum performance by the combination. SOLUTION: The light source 5 and a CPU 6 used for endoscopy are provided with RFID tags 34a, 34b storing product information, and antennas 35a, 35b for transmitting and receiving information, whereby when the information on the products is read, a circuit constant required for a dimming operation is automatically set in a short time to conduct the dimming operation, photometry information from an imaging signal imaged by a CCD 16 is transmitted from the CCU 6 side through the antenna 35a to the light source 5 side, so that the dimming operation can be performed without requiring the connection using a dimming cable.
