METHOD OF SUMMARIZING DIGITAL VIDEO DATA BASED ON CONTENTS IN REAL TIME

PURPOSE: A method of summarizing digital video data based on contents in real time is provided to extract MPEG-7 descriptor characteristic value of video frame data obtained in real time to detect shot boundary and key frame information while storing digital video data obtained from a digital video camera. CONSTITUTION: MPEG-7 descriptor is extracted from digital video frame of current frame being inputted(405). Similarity between the extracted MPEG-7 descriptor of the current frame and MPEG-7 descriptor of a stored previous frame is measured(409). The measured similarity is compared with a predetermined critical value to judge a shot boundary. When the similarity is smaller than the critical value(411), the boundary between the current frame and the previous frame is judged to be the shot boundary(413). When the similarity is not smaller than the critical value, it is judged that the boundary between the current frame and the previous frame is not the shot boundary.
