A device for facilitating the simultaneous transfer of a number of articles, e.g. bricks, from a series of platforms on a vertical elevator 1 and depositing them on a series of platforms on a wheeled vehicle 9, comprises a fixed framework 4, 10 placed between the elevator and vehicle which is provided with shelves corresponding to the platforms on the elevator and vehicle, and a step-by-step device comprising a number of spaced apart shelves mounted in a frame 5 which is moved horizontally to insert each shelf under an article carried by the corresponding shelf of the endless chain elevator 1, vertically to raise it from the shelf, horizontally to move each article and then vertically to lower it on to a corresponding shelf mounted in the fixed framework 4, 10, the movements being repeated to transfer the articles step-by-step across the fixed shelves until these shelves are full. Thereupon, another movable frame 6 with shelves comes into operation and is moved similarly to remove the articles from the shelves of the fixed framework on to corresponding shelves on the wheeled vehicle 9. |
