PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent of which the adsorbing capacity of nitrogen oxide is not lowered even under a high humidity condition set to a degree generating dew condensation, and to clean nitrogen oxide by reacting adsorbed nitrogen oxide with a reducing agent at a low temperature, for example, at a temperature of 100 deg.C or lower. SOLUTION: Nitrogen oxide is converted to nitrate ions by a nitrogen oxide adsorbing and cleaning agent comprising at least one nitrogen oxide adsorbent 1, catalyst particles 2 having oxidation-reduction capacity and a solid polymeric electrolyte 3 to be occluded thereby and nitrogen oxide adsorbed by allowing reductive gas to flow in the nitrogen oxide adsorbing and cleaning agent is reduced and cleaned by catalytic reaction. |
