Liquidtight grooves (7-10) in a moulded article (2) are used to act as resin feed channels extending along the article and reinforcing structure (4) in contact with it. A moulding system (1) comprises an article moulded from styrene foam and designed to allow epoxy resin to bond to a reinforcing structure in contact with the article, using vacuum suction force. The reinforcing structure is formed by yarns, bands or the like. The article includes intersecting recessed grooves designed to have liquidtight side and base surfaces so that they can function as feed channels for the resin along the article and reinforcing structure, resulting in a single-piece reinforced composite product. Independent claims are also included for (a) a moulding method using this system, in which heat is used to melt the grooves, and (b) the use of this system so that the grooves are on the inside of the e.g. boat or container, and one side of the article is in contact with a mould tool (18) and the other is covered by a peel ply and a multi-direction tearable synthetic film, the tool containing a resin inlet in the bottom and suction holes for the film around its periphery. |
