摘要 PURPOSE: A routing mechanism, a switch fabric and a routing method for cell routing in a multi-level structure having input queuing are provided to apply HOL(Head Of Line) blocking count values, in order to select a path for traffic stream in a multi-level switch mesh. CONSTITUTION: A new cell stream path from an input port to an output port is requested(201). All paths between a source and a destination are identified and the paths are sorted by HOL blocking count values(202). Paths having the lowest HOL blocking count value and having capacity enough to process requested traffic loads are identified(203). Whether only one path is identified in the step 203 is decided(204). If so, the identified path is selected(205), and if more than one path is identified, the identified paths are selected in a group based on the traffic loads(206). After one or more than one path is selected, the HOL blocking count values are updated(207), and an idle state is maintained until another request for traffic routing is received(208).
