PURPOSE: An illuminator and a projection display system applied with the same are provided to prevent difference in the intensity of radiation at modulators, and improve the uniformity of lights. CONSTITUTION: A light source(110) irradiates a highly bright white light. A first fly-eye lens(120) is formed of small lenses arranged in predetermined rows. A curvature center shaft of each small lens is moved to an optical shaft of the light source from a center shaft of the small lens in a direction orthogonal to the optical shaft as much as a predetermined distance to have a symmetrical shape to the optical shaft of the light source. A second fly-eye lens(130) is formed of small lenses arranged at the position coinciding with the center shafts of the small lenses of the first fly-eye lens in predetermined rows to have the curvature center shaft. A liquid crystal panel(400) receives a light illuminated by an illuminator(100) to reappear a light required for expressing an image. A projective lens unit(600) projects the reappeared light to a screen(500). |
