<p>PURPOSE: Provided are a water-based intercoat coating composition used in forming a multi-layer coating showing excellent properties in anti-chipping properties, adhesion properties and water resistance, and a method for forming a multi-layer coating by using the same. CONSTITUTION: The composition contains (A) a polyester resin comprising, as essential components, an alicyclic polybasic acid(a1) and/or an alicyclic polyhydric alcohol(a2), other polybasic acid(a3) and other polyhydric alcohol (a4); and (B) a blocked polyisocyanate curing agent. The method comprises the steps of (i) coating a cationic electrodeposition coating composition onto a substrate, (ii) coating the water-based intercoat coating composition, curing or not curing, and coating a topcoating composition to form at least one topcoat coating layer.</p> |
